Houseman and Assistant Property Caretaker
Summary:
Our Bridgehampton, NY client is seeking a hands-on Houseman and Assistant Property Caretaker to join their established team.
This individual will help maintain their residences, grounds, and vehicles. This is a full-time, year-round role requiring a proactive mindset and keen attention to detail.
Candidates should reside within an easy commute of Bridgehampton, NY.
Responsibilities:
- Report to the Property Manager and work alongside the established team.
- Monitor household systems to ensure functionality.
- Schedule and oversee vendor preventative maintenance visits.
- Maintain appliances, including cleaning filters, checking thermostats, and replacing light bulbs.
- Assist Housekeepers by stocking supplies and moving heavy furniture and rugs.
- Learn and maintain household lighting fixtures, including vintage and contemporary pieces, ensuring the supply of bulbs; check and replace as needed.
- Manage daily trash and recycling removal.
- Keep doorways, windows, balconies, railings, and other exterior features clean and well-maintained.
- Maintain pool cleanliness between weekly vendor visits.
- Clean, maintain, and fuel vehicles.
- Organizing and clean sheds and barns.
- Monitor and report tree or plant damage to the Property Manager.
Qualifications:
- Observant, proactive, and alert with strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable driving various vehicles, including manual transmissions.
- Experience interacting with and supervising vendors, contractors, and service personnel.
- A background in the trades is appreciated.
- Strong professional history with verifiable references.
- Flexibility to work non-standard hours as required.
- Proactive, service-oriented mindset with effective communication skills.
- Physically able to perform labor-intensive tasks.
Schedule:
Generally, Monday through Friday, daytime hours, with flexibility required for weekend and holiday work as needed.
Compensation:
Annual base salary of up to $50/hour, plus an excellent benefits package (healthcare, PTO, paid holiday, overtime), and an annual discretionary bonus.
