Position: Facilities Manager
Location: Long Island area (candidate must be based within a 30-45 minute commute)
Schedule: Full-time, on-site with occasional flexibility to support other locations

A private household located approximately 45 minutes east of New York City is seeking a full-time Facilities Manager to join their team. This newly created role supports the Director of Facilities and is extremely hands-on—ideal for someone who takes pride in rolling up their sleeves and handling everything from changing light bulbs to troubleshooting HVAC issues. You’ll be the first call when an alarm goes off late at night and are expected to know the ins and outs of maintaining a high-end residential property to the highest standard. The right candidate will be technically skilled, highly capable, and proactive, with strong communication skills and a commitment to keeping the property running smoothly at all times.
Please note: we’re seeking highly experienced candidates with a strong background in managing and overseeing facilities and maintenance for private estates or luxury hospitality environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot household systems including HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, lighting, AV, and security
- Perform light repairs and partner with vendors for larger maintenance tasks and renovations
- Oversee exterior spaces and facilities and support landscape and grounds care coordination
- Create and manage maintenance checklists and schedules for daily, weekly, and seasonal upkeep
- Communicate closely with the Director of Facilities and on-site team to ensure property readiness at all times
- Support special projects, event setup, and logistics as needed
- Remain responsive to alarms, alerts, and emergency repairs
Ideal Candidate:
- 5-7+ years of experience working in a similar facilities oriented role in private households or luxury hospitality settings
- Technically skilled and hands-on with strong working knowledge of residential building systems
- Highly organized, proactive, and calm under pressure
- Naturally detail-oriented with a keen awareness of how to maintain a clean, secure, and polished environment
- Flexible, team-oriented, and comfortable shifting priorities as needed
- Previous experience in private homes, hotels, or similar residential settings preferred
- Valid driver’s license; own vehicle preferred for commuting
- This role requires the ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and hands-on work throughout the day, both indoors and outdoors, across various household and facilities-related duties
- Must be in the Long Island area or within a 30-45 minute commute
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US
- Must be willing to undergo a detailed background check and have excellent employment references
Compensation & Benefits:
- Base salary of $150,000+, commensurate with experience
