JOB SUMMARY

The Houseman will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep, cleanliness, and readiness of the residence for the Principal. This position involves maintaining and cleaning the home to a high standard, ensuring it is always guest-ready. The role encompasses general outdoor and indoor housekeeping duties, property inspections, overseeing contractors, running errands, managing inventory, and handyman tasks to ensure the smooth functioning of household systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conducting detailed inspections of the property to ensure standards are maintained and equipment functioning properly.
  • Performing general outdoor and indoor cleaning to uphold the residence's appearance.
  • Overseeing contractors and ensuring work is completed to required standards.
  • Running errands as necessary to support the household's needs.
  • Managing and organizing inventory and stock levels of household items.
  • Undertaking deep cleaning tasks as required to maintain high standards.
  • Safekeeping of the client’s property and ensuring the security of the property.
  • Performing general maintenance tasks, including minor repairs and upkeep of appliances, electronics, plumbing, and air conditioning units.
  • Handling basic carpentry, painting, drywall, and basic electrical tasks as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position currently has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED certificate required; an associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within high-end, fast-paced homes.
  • Proven ability to follow instructions and work under the direction of the Facilities Manager.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a proactive, adaptable, and flexible attitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Strong time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable with technology and computer savvy.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • A valid driver’s license is required, any relevant certifications will be considered a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The role requires frequent movement within the home, including lifting items up to 25 pounds, plus some lifting over 25 pounds, bending, and stretching for cleaning and maintenance tasks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The majority of work will be conducted at the residence, with occasional errands away from the residence. Exposure to outdoor conditions.  Travel may be required.
