Job Description: Family Assistant/Household Manager

Hours: 10-15 hours a week, with possibility for the hours to grow

Overview:

We are seeking a professional and trustworthy Household Manager / Family Assistant to join a dynamic family residence. The ideal candidate will be an organized and detail-oriented individual who excels at multitasking and managing household operations. This role includes a variety of responsibilities, from home organization and meal preparation to pet care and errands. As the client is new to the role of a household manager, the client’s key priorities right now are organization and tidying up in between the housekeepers’ visits, pet care, and meal preparation. Their needs will grow over time as trust builds with the assistant and there could be additional tasks as well.

Responsibilities:

  • Home Organization
    • Manage the seasonal organization of clothing, declutter spaces, and oversee other home organization projects. 
    • Develop and maintain efficient systems within the home to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Meal Preparation/Cooking
    • Plan and prepare meals according to the family’s dietary preferences and nutritional needs. 
    • Manage kitchen inventory and organize groceries accordingly.
  • Pet Care
    • Provide comprehensive care for family pets, which includes feeding, grooming, vet visits, and exercise.
  • General Tidying Up
    • Ensure common areas are neat and presentable. 
    • Tidy up the areas of the home and undertake light housekeeping in between the housekeepers' visits.
  • Errands and Shopping
    • Perform general errands, including but not limited to grocery shopping, etc.
  • Vendor Sourcing and Management:
    • Source, coordinate and oversee various vendors for household services, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Travel Support and Research/Paperwork Management
    • Assist in travel planning and preparations, including packing, itinerary management, and transportation arrangements.
    • Conduct research as needed on various topics. 
    • Manage documents, ensuring they are organized and easily accessible.
    • Sort and organize mail, manage bills and correspondence as required.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a household manager, personal assistant, or in a similar role.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to create orderly systems and maintain clear and precise records.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills and the discretion to handle confidential information.
  • Comfortable with pets and knowledgeable in their care.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with attention to detail.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
