Experienced Laundress / Housekeeper NYC

Prominent family is seeking to hire an experienced Laundress and Housekeeper to join their household team! This position consists of a five-day workweek, roughly 8 hours per day with flexibility to worker longer hours as needed upon request. The most successful candidate must be a strong laundress with excellent knowledge of fine fabrics and garments, understanding the need for hand washing vs. dry-cleaning, and strong ironing skills. This position requires to be a team player and work in tandem with another housekeeper and additional household team members. 

Requirements:

• Strong command of English language; excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent references required from both current and previous employers
• Minimum 5 + years related experience working in a similar role with excellent laundress skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Exceptional organizational skills and dedication to responsibilities
• Physically agile; able to navigate an expansive residence
• Drivers license a plus!
• Legally able to work in the United States

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Performing laundress duties including: hand washing, stain removing, ironing, or sending to dry cleaners
• Responsible for general cleaning of primary residence (apartment)
• Excellent skills in museum-quality cleaning with proficiency in special surfaces (wood, glass, leather, furniture, antiques, silver, brass, etc.)
• Ensuring residence is in guest-readiness at all times
• Working collaboratively with second housekeeper and additional household staff members
• Additional Housekeeper duties as requested by the principal
