An international high-net-worth (HNW) family is seeking a discreet, highly capable, and experienced House Manager/Butler (M/F) to manage all aspects of household operations across multiple residences, primarily in Hong Kong and Japan. This is a live-in position requiring a high degree of flexibility, strong leadership, and the ability to manage a team and provide top-tier service with consistency and discretion.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working for UHNW families, possess excellent communication skills in both Chinese and English, and be comfortable travelling frequently across countries.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise household staff including maids, drivers, security personnel, and tutors
  • Manage the family’s daily schedules, routines, and meal planning in coordination with the chef
  • Oversee family members' health needs, including organizing dietary plans and arranging regular medical check-ups
  • Provide five-star hospitality to visiting guests, including meal coordination, accommodation, gifting, and entertainment
  • Coordinate household maintenance, repairs, and service providers
  • Handle administrative duties such as managing household bills and overseeing domestic budgets
  • Maintain and update household manuals and procedures
  • Support the Director with any additional household-related tasks or assignments
  • Assume HR responsibilities, including scheduling, performance appraisals, and recruitment of domestic staff
  • Oversee and ensure seamless meal service (no cooking required)
  • Travel frequently with the Principal to various international destinations — flexibility is essential

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a private butler for UHNW families
  • Background in hospitality, luxury service, or formal butler training preferred (e.g., hotel management schools or butler academies)
  • Excellent leadership, planning, and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in Chinese and English
  • Discreet, mature, and highly professional in both appearance and conduct
  • Able to manage confidential and sensitive information with complete discretion
  • Experience managing international staff teams and operating in multicultural environments
  • Able and willing to travel frequently (passport from Singapore, Hong Kong, or Taiwan preferred for visa convenience)
  • Open to both male and female candidates

Work conditions

  • 6 days per week, with one day off aligned with the Principal’s schedule
  • Flexibility required for evenings, weekends, and frequent travel
  • Primarily based between Hong Kong and Japan (live-in)
