Description

Lovely family of five located in Upper Manhattan is in search of a wonderful, hardworking and detail-oriented candidate responsible for housekeeping and cooking simple, healthy dinners (they are not seeking professional chef meals). This role requires the ability to work independently and complete tasks efficiently. This is a perfect role for someone who takes pride in maintaining a clean and organized home, is comfortable in the kitchen and is dedicated to taking care of the family. They seek a candidate with whom they can build a long-term relationship with. Spanish/French speaking is a plus!

About the home: 4000 sq. ft brownstone with six bedrooms and four bathrooms across four levels — must be comfortable climbing stairs.

Schedule: Monday through Friday (40 hrs/week) either 9AM - 5PM or 10AM - 6PM.

Housekeeper duties and responsibilities:

  • Cleaning: Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and dusting.
  • Sanitizing: Cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, showers, toilets, countertops and sinks.
  • Laundry: Washing, drying, ironing, folding and putting away laundry.
  • Bedmaking: Making beds and changing linens.
  • Stocking: Replenishing toilet paper, hand towels and soap.
  • Trash: Emptying and cleaning trash cans and replacing liners.
  • Organization: Tidying and organizing personal items and belongings, drawers, closets, and storage spaces.

Cooking duties and responsibilities:

  • Meal preparation: Plan and prepare meals that meet the family’s dietary needs and tastes. This may include baking, grilling, steaming, and boiling a variety of foods.
  • Kitchen maintenance: Keep the kitchen clean and orderly by washing cookware/tools and sanitizing surfaces. Store food and other items properly.
  • Food safety: Follow sanitation and food safety guidelines. Check the quality and freshness of ingredients.
  • Inventory management: Monitor food stock and shop for groceries when needed.
  • Communication: Share meal ideas with family for feedback/planning for the week ahead.

Please note:

  • Their oldest child is a vegetarian, so dinner (at least the main course) must be vegetarian-friendly.
  • No need to serve or do dishes, just clean up of the cookware/tools used.
  • The family does not require anything fancy for the cooking. They are more interested in a candidate who can prepare a variety of home-cooked family meals.
