The Role

A private household is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Housekeeper to provide high-level cleaning, organization, and support across all areas of the residence. This role involves maintaining the cleanliness of both interior and exterior spaces, caring for fine furnishings and finishes, managing household inventory, and ensuring the home is always guest-ready. Responsibilities include daily housekeeping duties such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting, laundering delicate garments, and organizing closets and wardrobes. The Housekeeper will also assist with shopping, unpacking deliveries, managing returns, and coordinating with vendors or tradespeople when needed. Experience with high-end materials, plants and floral care, and maintaining household systems is essential. Light meal preparation and support during events may occasionally be requested. Flexibility to house-sit, assist with travel preparation, and maintain a polished home in alignment with the principals’ preferences is key to success in this role. The right candidate will be proactive, discreet, and capable of both independent and collaborative work with a “no job too small” approach. They will understand the need for calm and quiet in the home, but present with a positive and friendly manner. 

 

Job Title:           Full-Time Housekeeper (Live-in option available with accommodations in the carriage house, a bedroom/en-suite, can be permanent, or temporary)

Reporting to:    The Principals, Estate Manager, and Lead Housekeeper

Start:                 mid-July, ideally no later than mid-August

Location:           Highland Beach (Palm Beach County, FL)

Hours:               Core hours, 5 days per week, approx. 12pm-8pm, but with flexibility on hours and days, and available for occasional events

Salary:               $37-$45/hour, dependent on experience

Benefits:            Medical stipend; 2 weeks PTO (taken at Estate Manager’s discretion), Federal Holidays (with flexibility to be available if needed), uniform reimbursement; annual discretionary raise and bonus

The Family:      Husband, wife, and 9-year-old son

The House:        Estate in Palm Beach County

The Staff:          Estate manager, head housekeeper, property manager.

Pets:                   may get a dog

Household Cleaning

  • Ensuring all aspects of the property, interiors as well as exteriors, are maintained and cleaned; to include fine furnishings and finishes.
  • Liaising with a state manager and lead Housekeeper; reporting damages and concerns.
  • Full household organizing and restocking to include the kitchen and bathrooms, maintaining inventory.

 

Supplies

  • Ordering and shopping for supplies and toiletries as needed
  • Recording and filing receipts efficiently, managing expenses and the petty cash
  • Maintaining household inventory

 

Deliveries

  • Unpacking and putting away household deliveries
  • Organizing returns as needed

 

Laundry & Clothing Care

  • Managing all the laundry, hand washing, and ironing /steaming, and dry-cleaning drop offs/ collections
  • Knowledge of garments care including delicate and personal items, as well as towels and linens
  • Managing the wardrobes and closets, keeping them organized and neat

 

Family Assistance

  • Monitoring deliveries, mail, and arranging returns/ junk
  • Assisting with packing/unpacking for their travels
  • Conducting house checks on weekends when the family is away, including occasional overnight house-sitting as required

 

Cooking

  • Meal prep & light basic cooking
  • Assisting if needed during events and family gatherings

 

Contractors and Guests

  • Greeting guests, couriers and tradesmen at the door and overseeing appointments when necessary
  • Purchasing of all perishable and non-perishable items
  • Preparing living and outdoor spaces to the principals’ specifications for their or guest arrival

 

Requirements

  • Legally able to work within the United States
  • Proven similar work experience for a HNW private residence (at least three years)
  • Experience must include caring for high-end materials (marble, natural wood floors, antiques, etc.)
  • English proficiency (read, write, and speak)
  • Must be tech savvy (the family will have digital tools for household procedures and checklists)
  • Must have a valid drivers’ license and reliable vehicle
  • Happy to undergo a criminal background check
  • Discretion and confidentiality
  • Excellent references required from both current and previous employers
