Full-time Live in Housekeeper (M/F) job offer in Hampshire, UK 

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Housekeeper (M/F) to join our professional team at a prestigious private estate in Hampshire, United Kingdom.

This role is central to the ongoing upkeep, cleanliness, and presentation of the home, as well as the care of its historic interiors and valuable contents. You will play a key part in supporting the Owner’s lifestyle, including occasional hosting and event assistance, while ensuring the highest standards of housekeeping and conservation are consistently maintained.

You will work closely with the House Cook, Head of House, and other estate staff to deliver seamless, five-star service in a heritage environment.

Responsibilities

Housekeeping & Presentation:

  • Deliver thorough daily cleaning of the residence, ensuring all rooms and surfaces meet impeccable standards.
  • Carry out regular deep-cleaning routines in alignment with conservation best practices.
  • Maintain household offices and utility areas to the same high level of cleanliness.
  • Handle laundry and linen care as required.

Heritage Conservation:

  • Support and implement preventative conservation measures to protect antiques, artwork, and delicate furnishings.
  • Monitor condition of interiors and contents, logging information during cleaning for conservation records.
  • Assist with the management and preservation of valuable or historic items.

Hosting & Lifestyle Support:

  • Provide discreet and efficient assistance during private events and gatherings, with advance notice.
  • Support the family during special occasions, including alternate Christmases and celebrations.

Estate & House Management:

  • Oversee day-to-day housekeeping schedules and assist in planning long-term cleaning programmes.
  • Ensure cleaning materials and equipment are safely used, well-maintained, and stored appropriately.
  • Identify and report maintenance, safety, or preservation issues promptly.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with other estate staff, contributing positively to the team environment.
  • Maintain professional communication, discretion, and a respectful approach at all times.
  • Offer flexible support to other departments as required.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a similar Housekeeper or Houseman role, ideally within a private, luxury or heritage property.
  • Strong understanding of conservation cleaning and care for valuable contents (desirable).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and high personal standards.
  • Physically capable of managing the demands of deep-cleaning and estate upkeep.
  • Excellent team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Trustworthy, discreet, and professional in all circumstances.
  • Willingness to work occasional weekends (1 in 4) and support out-of-hours events when planned.
  • Positive, flexible, and proactive attitude with a commitment to long-term service.

Work conditions

  • Full-time permanent contract.

  • Monday to Friday (with flexibility).
  • 1 in 4 weekends on.
  • Live In accommodation provided - Cottage, 2 beds & garden.
  • £25,000 gross per annum.
