Overview:

The Assistant Company has been retained by Highland Park couple who are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented House Assistant (Family / Personal Assistant) to support the daily operations of a private household with young children. The ideal candidate will ensure the home runs smoothly, maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization, and provide occasional support with childcare and light meal prep.  Please read the entire ad.  Local applicants only.  No phone calls.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Household Oversight:
    • Conduct regular walkthroughs of the home to ensure everything is in working order 
    • Light housekeeping as needed, while supervising and review the work of the full-time housekeeper to maintain high standards
    • Coordinate and manage household maintenance and repairs
    • Organize closets, garage, and miscellaneous household items to maintain a clean, functional, and clutter-free environment

  • Inventory & Restocking:
    • Monitor household and pantry inventory levels
    • Discard expired goods and ensure consistent restocking of essentials (groceries, paper goods, toiletries, etc.)
    • Organize household supplies and pantry items for optimal accessibility
  • Errands & Scheduling:
    • Run miscellaneous errands as needed (e.g., returns, picking up items, mailing packages)
    • Order groceries online or in person based on household preferences and needs
    • Maintain household calendar and appointments related to vendors, deliveries, and repairs
  • Kitchen Support:
    • Assist with light cooking or meal prep as needed (family-friendly, simple meals)
    • Help organize and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and refrigerator
  • Child-Friendly Support:
    • Provide occasional help with young children (e.g., play supervision, light childcare when needed)
    • Must be comfortable and warm around children

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a private household or hospitality setting preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive, self-starting attitude
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable with online ordering, digital calendars, and household apps
  • Discreet, trustworthy, and able to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Comfortable working in a household with young children
  • Basic cooking skills a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
