Ranch Estate Manager

Position description:

We are seeking an experienced Ranch Estate Manager for a high end private family ranch and home outside of beautiful Austin, Texas. The Manager will supervise and lead a skilled and strong performing team of full time workers, professionals, vendors and contractors. Responsibilities include overseeing the daily operations of the ranch and working closely with the owners on various projects and services. Couples with experience working together will also be considered for the role.

This is a unique opportunity to manage a ranch property in a convenient and highly desirable location minutes away from restaurants, shopping, entertainment and outstanding schools. Individuals that will be successful in this role will have strong communication and management skills and be a self-starter with an outstanding work ethic. 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Effectively manage and motivate a team of 5 full time ranch workers, third party professionals (e.g. farriers, veterinarians) and contractors
• Lead land management and groundskeeping maintenance to achieve a resort quality property experience
• Manage budgets, inventory, and procurement of supplies and equipment
• Keep organized electronic and paper ranch records, including expenses
• Help ensure high quality care of horses and a small herd of cattle
• Accomplish light construction, building, and road projects
• Maintain barns, houses, equipment, and ranch infrastructure
• Ensure safety and security of property, people and animals

Requirements:

• Minimum 10 years of prior management experience in a high quality ranch, estate, or resort setting
• Must have experience supervising teams of ranch, estate or resort employees
• Ability to lead a high performance team and manage third parties on large, complex projects, but willing to mow grass if needed
• Experience with basic accounting, budgeting, bill paying and vendor negotiations
• Experience caring for horses strongly preferred
• Experience caring for cattle preferred
• Experience and physical ability to operate a range of the highest quality ranch and land maintenance equipment, including tractors preferred
• Experience with construction and fencing projects preferred
• Ability to communicate fluently in English and ideally have some knowledge of Spanish
• Willingness to be onsite Monday-Friday during normal business hours and happy to stay late or work a weekend in the case of emergencies
• Must be able to pass in-depth pre-employment background and drug tests
• Must have strong, consistent work ethic with references from former positions
