A private family in New York City is seeking a flexible and proactive Newborn Nanny to support their transition into parenthood. The ideal candidate will act as both a mother’s helper and a newborn nanny, assisting with light household tasks, errands, and organizational duties while also providing gentle, attentive infant care. The family would love to trial potential candidates before the baby arrives and plans to hire a month in advance to ensure a smooth transition. The role will evolve naturally as the mother determines her needs, especially if she begins working from home again. The nanny must be flexible, nurturing, and hands-on, willing to support the mother’s parenting approach while also stepping in as needed. Travel is a key part of this position, with extended stays in Miami (December – March) and potential trips to Los Angeles.
Requirements:
- Experience as a newborn nanny (at least 5+ years of experience caring for newborns in private homes)
- Loving, nurturing, and flexible, with a desire to support both baby and mom
- Dog lover - the family has a pet and values someone who enjoys animals
- Open to occasional overnight stays
- Willing and excited to travel with the family for extended periods
- Infant CPR & First Aid certified (or willing to obtain before start date)
- Excellent references from previous families
Responsibilities:
- Assist with newborn care, including feeding support, diaper changes, and soothing techniques
- Adapt to the family's evolving needs as they settle into a routine
- Plan fun and engaging age-appropriate activities
- Tidy up nursery, baby-related spaces, and common areas
- Assist with light errands and organizational tasks
- Be available to travel with the family to Miami (Dec–March) and Los Angeles as needed
