Position: Facilities Director
Location: Based between New York City and Long Island
Schedule: Full-time with regular travel to other U.S. properties
Compensation: $200,000++ DOE | Full benefits package included

Please Note: this is not a traditional estate management position; it is a specialized estate facilities management position.
A private family is seeking a highly capable and experienced Facilities Director to oversee the maintenance and operations of a portfolio of high-end residential properties. The role is based primarily between New York City and Long Island, NY, and will involve hands-on leadership across multiple estates. This is a dynamic, high-responsibility position for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates seamlessly across teams, and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves to get the job done.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of multiple private residences nationwide, with a primary focus on two high-frequency properties in NYC and Long Island
- Ensure the integrity and performance of all systems (HVAC, MEP, lighting, AV, security, etc.) and address both routine and emergency issues promptly
- Manage vendor relationships, service contracts, and maintenance schedules
- Lead large-scale repair, renovation, and construction projects from planning through execution
- Travel quarterly to additional properties across the U.S., coordinating readiness and supporting on-site teams (housing provided during travel)
- Communicate regularly with property coordinators, facilities staff, and leadership to maintain alignment and ensure seamless operations
- Maintain detailed records related to maintenance, projects, budgets, and inventories
- Support move coordination, equipment procurement, and emergency response
- Contribute to and enforce standard operating procedures and quality control measures
Ideal Candidate:
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in residential construction, estate facilities operations, or facilities management
- A true hands-on leader who is equally comfortable managing teams and tackling physical tasks (e.g., troubleshooting systems, adjusting tech, light repairs)
- Technically proficient with a solid understanding of building systems and home technologies
- Excellent communicator and collaborator with strong project management skills
- Flexible, solutions-oriented, and highly discreet
- Able to pivot quickly across priorities while maintaining calm and clarity
- Comfortable with frequent local travel and occasional extended stays at out-of-state properties
- This role requires the ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and hands-on work throughout the day, both indoors and outdoors, across various household and facilities-related duties.
- Valid driver’s license required
- Must be local to the NYC | Long Island area
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US
- Must be willing to undergo a detailed background check and have excellent employment references
