Our client, a lively 80-year-old, enjoys the highest quality cuisine, particularly focusing on classic historic Southern dishes elevated to Michelin-star levels, alongside a diverse range of international flavors. About the Role:

The Private Chef will be responsible for all aspects of the client's culinary needs, from daily meals to elaborate private parties and events. This includes menu planning, sourcing the finest ingredients, preparing exceptional dishes, and ensuring impeccable service. A deep understanding of both classic and contemporary culinary techniques is essential, with a particular emphasis on the art of crafting homemade sauces and mastering historic Southern cuisine.

Responsibilities

  • Menu Development: Create innovative and personalized menus that cater to the client's preferences, dietary restrictions, and any special occasions. This includes daily meals, as well as menus for larger gatherings. A strong understanding of food and wine pairing is a plus.
  • Culinary Excellence: Prepare and execute Michelin-star quality meals, emphasizing fresh, seasonal ingredients and impeccable technique. Specialization in Southern cuisine, including the preparation of cured hams and other regional delicacies, is crucial. A mastery of sauce making, from classic French sauces to Southern gravies and chutneys, is paramount.
  • Ingredient Sourcing: Source the highest quality ingredients from local farms, specialty purveyors, and international markets. Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure access to the freshest and most unique products.
  • Kitchen Management: Oversee the organization and cleanliness of the kitchen, ensuring it meets the highest standards of hygiene and efficiency. Manage inventory and ensure proper storage of all food items.
  • Event Catering: Plan and execute menus for private parties and events, ranging from intimate gatherings to large-scale celebrations. This includes coordinating with event staff and ensuring seamless service.
  • Service & Table Presentation: Assist with serving meals and maintaining proper table service etiquette as needed. A refined understanding of plating and presentation is essential.
  • Dietary Needs: Accommodate any specific dietary restrictions or allergies the client may have, ensuring all meals are prepared safely and with the same level of culinary artistry.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with household staff to ensure seamless coordination and communication regarding meal schedules, event planning, and any other related matters.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain the highest level of discretion and confidentiality regarding the client's personal information and preferences.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Private Chef, preferably with experience in a Michelin-starred restaurant environment or catering to UHNW clientele.
  • Extensive knowledge of classic and contemporary culinary techniques, with a specialization in historic Southern cuisine and sauce making.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent professional certification preferred.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Impeccable personal presentation and demeanor.
  • Flexibility to accommodate the client's schedule and travel when necessary.
