Horse & Barn Caretakers (Live-out) -- F/T AND P/T -- Carbondale CO

Long-time year-round Owners of private 50-acre horse property near Carbondale seek a live-out Full-time AND Part-time experienced Horse and Barn Caretakers to join their team to perform the following functions:

• Feed horses (currently 5 retired show horses)
• Administer medications
• Groom horses
• Put horses on the hotwalker
• Clean auto waters outside and inspect pastures to ensure safety
• Clean stalls 
• Add new bedding and hay amount
• Clean horse runs and  rake them
• Rinse wheelbarrows and muck tub
• Rake and clean the hotwalker
• Fill horse waters
• Sweep all walkways
• Sweep the floors and wipe off counters in grain room
• Pick horses’ hooves, apply thrush buster
• Vacuum barn
• Organize monthly receipts

Spring Chores:

• Pull weeds around perimeter of the arena and round pen
• Pick up rocks in pastures
• Sweep bridges/rake gravel pathways
• Wash inside stall walls
• Fust and wash stall fronts
• Dust tack room/clean tack/organize tack room
• Clean hoof boots/store
• Organize hay barn
• Give horses a bath if muddy
• Deep clean horses’ brushes
• Clean up manure
• Schedule spring vaccinations for horses

Fall Chores:

• Bring down rain sheets and blankets 
• Order ice melt
• Once the weather calls for it, turn on heat in barn -- between 48-52 degrees Fahrenheit
• Store any summer items
• Clean fly masks, tack, etc.
• Bring in all hoses around the property
• Schedule fall vaccinations

The property is private and not used for any commercial enterprise of any kind.  Candidates must have 3-5 years' equine experience (a college degree in equine science is a plus) and have a "no job too big or too small" attitude, enjoy working in a rural area and possess long-term intent.
