A mature, active principal in his mid-nineties is seeking a companion who can keep up with him! He walks/hikes up to 6 miles daily, reads voraciously, is comfortable with new technology, and can converse intelligently on various subjects. The principal is active in a charity he supports research for and travels frequently. The primary residence would be in the Princeton, NJ, area for six months of the year, with sporatic travel to Carmel, CA to visit family during the rest of the year. The position is a full-time, year-round schedule working Monday through Friday, usually 10am-7pm, live-out but this could easily change to different times depending on the daily activity (if dinner in the city that evening) and live-in, when required for that day. Driving around NJ and NYC is required and the candidate should be extremely comfortable with this. There needs to be flexibility for extended days/hours in the schedule when the principal goes into the city for dinners/cultural events. There may be occasions when seven-day coverage is necessary, but this should be infrequent. This will be a combination of a live-in/live-out role. The candidate should live a commutable distance to Princeton for the days they are live-out. If housing is required, the family is willing to offer for the right candidate. The companion may have extensive periods where they are on call but not working (still paid). This role is looking to do a trial-to-hire immediately.
Responsibilities
TRAVEL:
The principal lives in New Jersey but travels and spends extended time in Carmel, California. The companion should be comfortable living either locally already or in nearby provided housing in NJ for a full 6 months with episodic visits to California in the other six months. While in CA, arrangements would be made to fly the companion back to the East Coast, perhaps with a two-week on/off schedule. Both in NJ and CA, there would be housing provided when needed.
