Private Chef

LOCATION:

• Fisher Island, FL
• Summer- 5-8 weeks of travel to Greenwich, Connecticut

FAMILY DESCRIPTION:

• Couple with 4 children-Ages 17, 15, 13, 8

OTHER STAFF:

• F/T Nanny
• F/T Housekeeper
• Vendors and service providers as needed

DUTIES: 

Family enjoys healthy well-balanced and well-prepared meals utilizing fresh organic ingredients

• In charge of planning, shopping for, preparing and serving lunch, dinner, and snacks Breakfast items are prepared ahead and left for family to serve
• Occasional social events at the residence and dinner parties.  Principals tend to go out on Friday and Saturday nights
• Prepare healthy snacks for the children after school
• Prep ahead to leave meals for days off
• Keep pantry, refrigerator, and cabinets organized and stocked
• Ensure proper sanitation during meal preparation
• Manage housekeeping staff in setting the table
• Service of plated meals
• Kitchen clean-up throughout the day and after meals
• Order household items from Amazon
• Errands: occasional shopping-related errands such as picking up farm-share

QUALIFICATIONS AND CHARACTER SKETCH: 

• Professional training or equivalent in on the job experience
• Related experience in a private home - at least 3 years
• Experience and interest in organic, healthy cuisine 
• Available to work on holidays
• Courteous, discreet, honest and responsible character
• Be well groomed, non-drug user, physically able to perform the duties of the position and willing to take a pre-commencement physical
• Able to sign and adhere to confidentiality agreement
• Be a nonsmoker
• Be of good background and willing to submit to pre-employment background and reference check
• Legal to work in the USA

HOURS OF SERVICE:

• The Chef will generally be on duty for 5 days per week.  Weekly schedule to be determined by current activities at the house.  Flexibility is appreciated.  Hours on duty are typically 9 am to 7:30 pm including time at the market.  These hours may vary daily depending on family activities.  Time off can be taken mid-day for lunch.  A professional private service attitude that puts the employer's needs at a premium is highly valued. 

COMPENSATION AND TERMS: 

• Salary commensurate with experience 
• Medical benefits after 30 days of service with some co-pay
• 2 weeks paid vacation (one after 6 months of employment, a second after one year)
• 1 week paid sick time
