This long-term position involves working closely with the family to create a structured, supportive, and safe environment that addresses the child’s unique needs, while also providing assistance with the other siblings as needed.

During the school year, the primary responsibility is to care for the neurodivergent child, but flexibility is essential as the nanny will also support the teen siblings with activities, transportation, and other responsibilities. The summer schedule involves an intense ROTA schedule (24/7 for one week), providing care for the child, followed by time off. The position will also require travel with the family, both during the summer months and occasionally during school breaks.

The ideal candidate is experienced with neurodivergent children, organized, compassionate, and flexible with a collaborative mindset to ensure the family’s needs are met. The role requires a calm, patient, and proactive approach, with the ability to adapt to changing environments and maintain a structured routine.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Daily Care & Routine Management:

    • Maintain a structured routine for the child, providing after-school care, supporting homework, and planning recreational activities during the school year (Tuesday-Saturday).
    • During the summer, provide full-day, 24/7 care during the ROTA schedule, ensuring continuity and support throughout the day and night.
  • Behavioral & Cognitive Support:

    • Work closely with the child’s therapy team to implement behavioral strategies, cognitive modifications, and other individualized care plans. Ensure adjustments are made as necessary to achieve positive outcomes.
    • Participate in regular team meetings to stay aligned with the child’s development and behavior plans, integrating strategies into daily activities.
  • Family & Sibling Support:

    • Assist with teen siblings, including helping with after-school activities, transportation to and from events, and supporting their needs as they arise.
    • Provide assistance with household tasks related to the child’s and siblings’ care, ensuring smooth daily operations.
  • Travel:

    • Accompany the family during the summer months and potentially other travel periods, supporting the child’s routine in new environments, including transportation, lodging, and daily schedules.
    • Travel during school breaks (e.g., holiday breaks, spring break) may also be required to help maintain the child’s routine and provide care in new locations.
  • Social & Emotional Support:

    • Provide emotional support, positive reinforcement, and encouragement in a safe, nurturing, and structured environment.
    • Assist with social development, promoting healthy interactions with peers, family members, and others.
  • Household Support:

    • Assist with the child’s daily needs, including meal prep, transportation, running errands, and maintaining the child’s schedule for appointments, therapy sessions, etc.
  • Vehicle Provided:

    • A vehicle will be provided for use during working hours to support the child’s activities, appointments, and transportation needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience working with neurodivergent children, particularly those who need behavioral and cognitive support.
  • Behavioral Knowledge: Strong understanding of neurodiversity, including experience with behavioral management strategies and cognitive support techniques.
  • Team-Oriented: Ability to work collaboratively with a team of therapists, family members, and other caregivers to provide the best care and ensure consistency.
  • Compassion & Patience: A nurturing, patient, and flexible approach to caregiving, with a commitment to understanding and supporting the child’s unique needs.
  • Travel-Ready: Willingness to travel with the family, especially during the summer months and occasional school breaks.
  • Organized & Proactive: Strong organizational skills to manage daily routines, transportation, and other caregiving tasks.
  • Clear Communication: Ability to effectively communicate with both the child’s family and professional care team.
  • Valid Driver’s License: Reliable transportation and a clean driving record (vehicle will be provided during working hours).
  • Background Check: A successful background and driving record check and references are required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Flexibility: Ability to adjust to the varying schedules during the school year and summer months, with occasional evening and weekend requirements.
