A small, close-knit family of four based in McLean, VA is seeking an experienced professional/career nanny who enjoys partnering with parents in childcare. This role offers a variety of experiences, from supporting work-from-home parents to international travel for family vacations.
About the Role:
We are looking for a dedicated professional whose primary focus will be on supporting the family. While the family and children follow a consistent routine, occasional flexibility is required, such as staying later for events at the house or covering a few hours on weekends due to parental obligations.
You'll be joining a well-established household team, including another nanny and a house manager, to ensure both the family and the team have the resources needed to fulfill their duties and maintain schedules. Reliability, flexibility, strong communication and interpersonal skills, good judgment, and trustworthiness are essential traits in the candidate who will thrive in this role.

Schedule:
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 7 am to 1 pm, with flexibility to adjust the schedule to reach 40 hours if needed. This is a full-time position that may require occasional evenings and weekends
Flexibility & Additional Coverage:
- Occasional overnight stays – approx. 1x per month
- Event coverage – approx. 2-3x per month
- Weekend coverage – approx. 1-2x per month
- Parental vacation coverage – approx. 1-2x per year
- Full-family domestic travel – approx. 2-3x per year
Primary Responsibilities:
Daily care of two children: a 6-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- School drop-off and pick-up, including after-school activities
- Meal preparation and plating for the children (cooking required)
- Bathing and dressing
- Packing for family trips
- Supporting the children with homework and educational activities
- Encouraging creativity, curiosity, and a love for learning
- Managing the children’s calendar (Google Calendar)
Entertainment & Activities:
- Taking the children to the park, zoo, etc.
- Indoor/outdoor play
- Reading and engaging in educational activities
- Supporting swim lessons (at the family’s home)
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Minor household tasks such as emptying the dishwasher
- Changing bedding and cycling children’s clothes based on season/size
- Tidying play areas after use
Compensation:
- Pay: Starting at $35 per hour, with potential to earn overtime

Requirements:
- At least 5 years of professional nannying experience
- Bachelor's degree in child development/education or a related field is a plus
- Experience working with preschool and school-aged children
- Certified in CPR/First Aid with strong knowledge of home safety
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Passport Ready
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Fully vaccinated and up to date
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (e.g., supporting the children)
- Strong understanding of child development principles and practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a high level of discretion
- Patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for working with children
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
- Willingness to undergo a thorough background check and provide at least 3 excellent references
