Housekeeper

Overview

A family with two small children on the Upper East Side of Manhattan is seeking a Housekeeper who can deep clean the house and oversee light maintenance/handyman work in their townhouse.  Candidate must have experience working in high end homes and caring for upscale furnishings.  Must be able to work as part of a team with an additional Housekeeper and Nanny. Looking for someone who is organized and may be able to help the principals with managing the home.  Candidate must be proficient in English (able to read and write). Candidate must be trustworthy, discreet, honest, and possess a pleasant demeanor.  While there are no childcare duties, the candidate must be comfortable around young children. Looking for either full-time (5 days) or part-time (2-4 days), depending upon the availability of the right candidate. There are no pets in the home.

 Responsibilities

• Full service housekeeping, including:
• Vacuuming, dry/wet mopping, and floor care
• Dusting all surfaces
• Hand-wiping wood furniture
• Disinfecting and cleaning bathrooms and vanities
• Dishes
• Laundry, ironing, changing and cleaning bed linens
• Cleaning the exterior of the house
• Washing walls
• Gutter cleaning
• Patio scrubbing
• Snow shoveling
• These additional skills would be considered a plus:
• Organizing
• Making & maintaining inventory lists for the home
• Ordering groceries and supplies
• Daily walk throughout the entire home (replace lightbulbs, batteries, etc.)
• Minor repairs/handiwork

• Running errands as needed
• Assisting when the Client entertains
• Vendor management and scheduling service personnel

 Qualifications

• Must be able to speak, read, & write English
• Trustworthy, kind, friendly, discreet, & honest
• Must be team oriented and able to work alongside a full time Housekeeper and Nanny
• Prior experience working in a private home 
• Non-smoking work environment
• References and background check will be required prior to hiring

Travel

• No travel required

Hours/Schedule

• This role can be either full-time (5 days/week) or part-time (2-4 days/week). However, candidate MUST be able to work Fridays and Saturdays (in addition to other weekdays to be selected)

Salary

• Competitive hourly salary based upon experience
• 6 paid holidays (when falling on work days)
• For full time or 4 days/week employees: 10 days additional paid time off per year
