Busy, dual-career couple in Venice is searching for an experienced nanny for their 1.5 year old and newborn children! The ideal candidate will have experience in newborn care and be flexible with their hours and availability. Their ideal candidate has a warm, loving and gentle approach and is confident in their infant/childhood development knowledge for milestones and age appropriate activities.
As a family assistant, you will also be responsible for doing the children’s laundry, organizing their closet, keeping inventory of baby supplies, and scheduling and attending any necessary appointments as needed. We’ll ask you to help keep the baby’s room and common areas of the home tidy, and to prepare fresh homemade meals for the children.
This is a very active family that frequently travels domestically and abroad throughout the year, and you’ll be asked to travel alongside them, sometimes on short notice, or work overnight shifts at the main residence. The family also has a small dog.
Recent, long-term, nanny experience with a newborn/infant and accompanying references will be required.
Start Date: The anticipated start date is on or before September 1st, 2025. We are hoping to establish a long-term relationship with someone who will grow with our family.
Responsibilities - Childcare
- Take care of the children, focused on skills development, education, and fun!
- Maintain a safe, calm and clean environment in the household
- Take children to frequent music classes and other local outings
- Focus on education: come up with age-appropriate activities and curriculum
- Drive children to appointments, classes, etc.
- Cook all food for the children from scratch
- Clean bottles, take out the trash, and do the children’s laundry
- Pack and unpack the children’s items for traveling
- Collaborate well as a team with a housekeeper and personal assistant
Responsibilities - Family Assistant
- Maintain a calendar of the children’s appointments and schedules
- Assist the other household staff with small tasks as needed: meeting vendors at the house, picking up from the PO box, purchasing groceries or other items
- Assist with pet care: feeding and walking the dog
- Stock the household with all supplies needed for the children
- Tidy the children’s rooms and common areas of the home during each shift
- When children are napping, seek out ways to assist around the household
Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years experience caring for infants and toddlers
- Flexible schedule to work long shifts and occasional overnights and 24/7 shifts
- Valid passport. Must be available to travel with the family, both domestically and internationally
- Valid CA drivers license and clean driving record.
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must be willing to sign an NDA
- Bonus: Background as preschool or elementary teacher
Full-Time Schedule:
- Friday to Tuesday every week (Thursday-Monday is also possible).
- The standard weekday schedule is 8am-6pm, with evenings often required
- The weekend schedule will fluctuate week by week. It is typically late morning or afternoon through dinner time.
Flexibility is key to be able to stay late on weekday evenings, travel, and occasionally work 24/7 shifts overnight.
35 hours per week are guaranteed, though many weeks may offer closer to 50+ hours. The ideal candidate is very flexible on all work days, and willing to work long hours.
Compensation: $35 per hour + applicable overtime. This is a W2 employee position paid twice monthly by payroll.
