About the Family:
A family of five located in Pacific Heights is seeking a talented chef to join their family and provide them with delicious meals and manage the food and beverage program at their home. We're looking for a candidate who is experienced, creative, and has a passion for cooking with seasonal, fresh, and full-flavored ingredients. The perfect fit for this role will be dedicated to sourcing high-quality ingredients, including locally-sourced produce and proteins.

The family is busy with a constantly changing schedule. Food is the anchor and stability for the family. All family members will eat together 4-5 times a week and always want to have enough food for a last minute business associate, friends of the kids, or extended family to join dinner. They are extremely generous and gracious hosts and want to make sure anyone that steps foot on the property is cared for. That could mean making the HVAC tech a latte, sending home food for a staff member with a sick parent, or having cheese boards at the ready for any vendor or friend that stops by. 

On a day-to-day basis the family is casual and enjoys easy, simple, and fresh meals. The family is known for entertaining and the food is an important part of that. The family expects the family kitchen to be prepped for easy to cook (self cooked) meals at all times, and be stocked with current favorites, these would be curated by the chef spending adequate time with the family in the forefront of their probationary period learning and understanding the families tastes and desires from the kitchen. There will be an expectation that the chef is both somewhat an on demand short order as well as a meal planned menu cook. 

The chef would cook and prepare the majority of the family meals in the family kitchen apart from staff meals made in catering, certain prep in catering and events all done in catering kitchen. The meals should be an experience when cooked in family kitchen to gain closer knowledge of the families likes and dislikes to prepare and maintain agreed upon menu rotations. 

Ideal day to day American, Mediteranian, Italian simple fresh meals - not overly complex for family meals. 

Family Meals - MOST IMPORTANT, they are to be comfort food, basic palets, good flavor, core ingredients (red meat, chicken, salmon, white fish, pastas, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, caesar salads, greens) Creativity welcome so long as the basics are met. Meals will be warmed at times when activities get in the way of a unified meal time. 

For dinner parties, the expectation is to wow guests and leave them feeling full and inspired. Bring out the BEST you've got! 

Daily Responsibilities: 

It’s the kitchen team's responsibility to maintain the presentation of all fridges in the house including the family fridges. Restocking anything that was eaten the day before. Two times a week the fridge will be fully swapped with fresh food.

 

Requirements:

  • 3+ years as a private chef in home 
  • family chef experience

 

-Prepare late breakfast for Mr. and Mrs.

-On occasion Mr and Mrs will have a late lunch

-Staff Lunch (Family style, super simple)

-After school snack for kids 

-Family Dinner - (buffet style most of the time) 

Hours / Schedule: 

- Monday - Friday (with exception of events)

- 11am - 8pm (or until family has completed dinner) 

 

Events: 

Approx 10-12 large events a year 

Approx 30 dinners / lunches a year

 

Hiring Process:

- 1-2 pre-interviews 

- Onsite trial 

- 90 Day Probation Period 

- Start Date ASAP
