Title:  House Manager

Reports to:  Estate Manager (who is based in Seattle, but supports several properties)

Location: Seattle (Madison Park)

This is a newly created full-time position, supporting a family home in Seattle.  The role will help the principals run and care for the house they love, and all that entails. This family has employed personal household staff for years, and some shifts have led to the creation of this full-time role.

 

The House Manager will interact with the principals, other staff members, and coordinate with vendors.  We seek a friendly and thoughtful team member.

 

Responsibilities

Following are what we consider to be the core responsibilities.  Some are daily, some are seasonal, and some are infrequent.  Note: this is a newly created position and therefore may change based off of the person hired for this role.

  • Housekeeping (day-to-day, such as: dishes, tidy, floors, bathrooms, trash/recycling)
  • Laundry (include Dry Cleaning, Bed Linens, Bath Towels, Clothes, Dog Bedding)
  • Maintain schedule for less frequent tasks (such as: polishing silver, getting vents cleaned, etc.)
  • Appliance Management
  • Organize, Declutter, Donations
  • Room Management (maintain organization and processes)
  • Oversee Onsite Vendor/Contractor Work
  • Unpacking Assistance & Luggage Management
  • Vehicle Management
    • Service/Maintenance Appointments
    • Repair Appointments
    • Regular Cleaning
    • Tab + Registration Renewal
  • Food and Beverage Management (in coordination with Personal Chef)
    • Fridge and Pantry Management
    • Coordinate Holiday Meals (Thanksgiving & Christmas)
  • Pet Care Management (support another staff member with the following):
    • Daily Walks
    • Pet Sitting /Pet Boarding
    • Veterinarian Appointments
    • Grooming Appointments
    • Food Stock
    • Medication Stock
    • Laundry – Blankets, Toys, Towels
  • Prescription Management (track current and new prescriptions, submit for refills, arrange pick-up)
  • Remote Property Projects (may be asked to periodically do projects at remote properties)
  • Inventory and refresh wardrobes
  • Update Home Calendar with Seattle House Schedule
  • Special Events Onsite (infrequent), such as: family and friend dinners, holiday and special occasion dinners, and fundraisers
  • Special Projects in Partnership with principals and other staff members

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience, with 3+ years of experience in a similar role (household, hospitality, yacht, etc)
  • Basic computer skills are necessary
  • Must be ok working in a home that has dogs
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • A collaborative team-player
  • Punctual
  • Poised and professional
  • Is discreet and confidential about your work

 

Work realities:

  • Monday -   Occasional support evenings/weekends, but will know well in advance
  • Full-time onsite (unless running errands)

  • Candidate must pass an extensive background check.
