Principal with a picturesque farm with multiple dwellings on the property 15 minutes from Charlottesville, Virginia seeks to hire an experienced and versatile Housekeeper/Assistant House Manager.

Looking for our “Alice” - someone who is caring, flexible, trustworthy, a creative thinker and good communicator with a service heart. Must love big dogs as their care is an integral part of the job. Daily household tasks and organization is at least 60% of the role - ideally seeking a housekeeper who is willing to step up to assist with household projects and management.

The property is in master planning phases with a new home expected to begin construction before end of year.  The principal will be moving to other residence on property by end of summer.  This position will report directly to the Principal and Estate Manager in coordination with part-time housekeeper who will do deeper cleaning tasks. The ideal candidate will possess prior experience in private household service.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Dog care – daily walks, grooming, health and wellness. When principal travels you will play an essential role in their well-being and care.
  • Daily tidying and light cleaning as needed of main areas of house with particular attention to dog spaces.
  • Errand running – grocery shopping, dry cleaners, post office, etc.
  • Organizing and decluttering projects as relates to daily living and process of principal moving to smaller dwelling on property.
  • Responsible for “walk-thru” of dwellings on weekly basis to ensure systems function and safety.
  • Laundry – washing, folding, ironing
  • Learn principal’s preferences and be responsible for having the house ready upon their return from traveling.
  • Monitor inventory levels of supplies and tell EM when to order.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Previous private household experience (preferred)

 

Work Schedule and Location:

  • The Housekeeper/AHM will be based in the residence on the employer’s farm 15 minutes east of Charlottesville.
  • The job hours will be 9am-5pm, three days a week (to be discussed in the interview.) As we are seeking the ideal person for the team, we are offering some flexibility in the desired days in exchange for someone who is dedicated to the project at hand. Flexibility of work schedule is inherent in the position.

 

Benefits and Hiring Information:

TBD based on experience and trial period. There will be a background check before employment agreement as well as an NDA to sign. Please provide 2 references when applying.
