PRIVATE CHEF/HOUSE MANAGER, ARLINGTON, VA (22209)
We are seeking a professional and dedicated Private Chef/House Manager to provide bespoke culinary services for a family who reside in a luxury apartment in Arlington. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for culinary excellence and a willingness to curate exceptionally sourced and prepared meals. The candidate will manage sourcing high quality ingredients and groceries, maintain kitchen inventory, and ensure that meals are prepared with thoughtfulness and care.
This is a hybrid position requiring the candidate to perform the cooking, and management of the home, in addition to other ad hoc duties. Clients enjoy simple, but elegant meals, with the highest of flavors and ingredients. Think “Alice Waters - Chez Panisse”. For Chef part of the job, the family require dinners only, five nights per week.
The position will also require assistance around the household with driving, maintenance, managing household bills, mail and packages and other ad hoc duties. This position requires a high degree of professionalism and discretion.
Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare nightly meals for a family of three
- Source groceries and ingredients with a focus on locally sourced, farm-to-table produce, poultry, meat, and other items
- Assist with maintenance duties around the luxury apartment and report any issues including smart home systems, lighting, fireplace HVAC etc.
- Oversee any repairs with maintenance manager
- Open mail and bring up packages from the mail room and unbox
- Process household bills and organize for payment biweekly
- Organize, clean, and maintain pantry and inventory of all food items for the household
- Assist with any daily laundry needs
- Manage vehicle and take car to dealer for service as needed
- Assist with driving principal’s teen child home from school
Requirements
- 10+ years related experience working as a Private Chef and House Manager with a keen understanding of 5-star level service
- Commitment to working with fresh, whole food; foraging seasonal ingredients and creating menus
- Passion for food and a strong understanding of fundamental cooking techniques
- Will provide cooking for small dinner parties on occasion, events, occasional holidays
- Possess a peaceful, calm, mindful and highly discreet personality. A quiet kitchen presence
- Respect and protect the clients and anonymity and need for confidentiality at all times
- Driver's license with clean record required
- Excellent references required
Location: Arlington, VA (22209)
Contract Length: Full-time
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 12pm-8pm (flex when needed); full health coverage and 401K
Salary: $180K+ (DOE) and benefits package
