FULL-TIME: Family Assistant Needed for a family in Rye

| Rye, NY, United States

Posted Date 2/22/2025
Description

This family of seven in Rye consists of three, mostly self sufficient teens, and two younger children, ages 8 and 6. They're looking for a full-time Family Assistant to work with them in a hybrid capacity. 75% of the role is household assistance (they have a house keeper so no deep cleaning!) and 25% is dedicated to the younger children, after-school. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, creative and excited to take on a role that is all about keeping this family fully functioning! Driving is required. It's $35 to $40/hour (or more, depending on experience), plus benefits.

They're looking to get started around March 31st.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday 12 PM to 8 PM

The family is happy to guarantee 40 hours/week

Children:

6 years old, girl. In Kindergarten. She needs help with some stuff, like showering. Loves Dolls. Super Creative and loves crafting. They have a whole crafting room in their house! The kids will play independently, they don't need constant attention, but they will engage you - ask you to play a game with them etc. She loves sports and gymnastics! 8 years old (almost), boy: In 2nd grade. Super active, does a lot of sports after school like soccer, lacrosse, football. He loves games or board games, not a lot of screens. ipads only for travel. TV only on the weekends. No video games. He likes to engage, do a puzzle, play Uno or a card game. They're really friendly kids!. Plus one middle schooler and two high schoolers.

Responsibilities

This is hybrid role with some childcare (all the kids are in school full time , so it is some school pickups and activity drop offs) and some household assistant work (meal prep, letting the dog out, keep things organized and tidy, errands etc). Mom is super organized with the schedule and she prints it out a calendar for every week. The calendar even lists what Mom is doing on any given day. This job is all about proactivity. For example, if the 8 year old has soccer the next day, the Family Assistant will lay out his soccer stuff for the next day. Or the Family Assistant will pre-make a bunch of snacks. It's all about thinking ahead! If dance is on the schedule, clothes get laid out the night before and a water bottle. Taking ownership of the home is the name of the game. There is a ramp up period and learning how the house works, which will help you learn the ropes. Summers are pretty easy going. The kids go to sleep away camp. The family goes to Cape Cod for a few weeks. During that time, you can either have the time off unpaid or continue to go in and work on larger household projects.

The Ideal Family Assistant

You're proactive, organized and love to help a family stay afloat! This is a great role for nannies who have been doing this for awhile and would like to make the transition to a Family Assistant, or use this position as a stepping stone to becoming a Household Manager. This role requires a team player mentality and adaptability, especially when it comes to another staff in the home (like the HouseKeeper). Somebody who will engage the younger kids when they're home from school.

Additional Information

You must have a valid driver's license. Swimming is nice to have but not required.
