Hiring immediately. Seeking two experienced estate liquidation staff; two candidates (who can carry heavier objects of up to 60 to 70 lbs), with excellent organizational skills, and experience in estate liquidations who will assist principal in relocating from the Hudson Valley area (in the Catskills), New York to: Southern California, starting immediately, until the end March or April, 2025. Principal is hiring for two positions: Both candidates will help with the daily household cleaning, move packing, estate liquidation and relocation. Candidates must own a car.

Principal is seeking candidates with experience in successfully planning and executing an estate liquidation. Verifiable career references for relevant estate liquidation experience (including past relevant experience in assistance with auctions and estate liquidations performed by candidates for previous employers) is preferred.

During the move, the two candidates will need to work as a team. The activities include all of the necessary work required for a high-level relocation and partial estate liquidation, including packing of the entire household, arranging for fine furniture restoration of approximately twenty to thirty antique furniture items, orchestrating for a private in-home estate liquidation for selling of household items, antiques, etc. via auction, holding a private estate sale, and of course, to arrange all transportation for the estate liquidation, furniture restoration, storage, and relocation.  

The ideal candidates will work well together to take the reigns for the principal to fully handle this estate liquidation to: research, vet, and do background and reviews checks for finding the best possible companies that offer: antique furniture restoration, auction house services, temporary rentals of storage pods, assisting with truck transportation (for transport of estate sale & auction items - and arrange for truck transport for the move to Southern California), dumpster rentals (for weekly household clean-outs). Principal needs applicants who will carefully and expediently pack up the entire household for the upcoming move, along with all related duties.

Equally important is the assistant work for the move with: researching reputable companies, making calls to source and vet movers for a one-way, long distance move... The ideal candidate will play the key role in packing, sourcing, vetting, negotiating, budgeting, hiring, supervising, and corresponding with superior “master” fine antique furniture restoration companies, vetting honest and reputable auction companies, as well as organizing transporting of several antique items to furniture restoration companies, auction houses, and temporary storage units.

Candidates will need expertise in vetting master furniture restorers (who specialize in wood and metal fine furniture restoration).

The principal will need help with carefully packing the entire household for the move, labeling boxes, and sorting through boxes of items to either keep and take, go to restore/furniture restoration, to sell at an in-home estate sale, auction house, or to give to donation. All items for sale will need to be carefully inventoried for estate sale and auction record keeping. Client will be liquidating and downsizing about 30 to 50% of the home’s items, moving to Southern California, and will be putting the house on the market for sale with a realtor.

Description of the position:

The candidates will be carefully packing and labeling, in cooperation with the employer, who will be deciding which items will be sold at an estate sale, which items can go to an auction and prepare for transportation to storage (for further transport to a new residence, and to auction houses).  In addition, the candidates will be contacting external parties, such as rental pods / rental facilities, dumpster rental companies, vetting master furniture restorers, vetting moving and moving insurance companies, vetting auction houses, renting and/or buying necessary resources, etc. 

Employer is not looking for just a mover, but candidates who either have experience with estate liquidations or can assist with seamlessly orchestrating it and are aware of the worth of items as they are used to in their position.   

Compensation offered: $5,000 to $7,200 per month.
