Full-Time Housekeeper (Laundress Preferred) – West Village, NYC
Compensation: $45++ per hour DOE + Benefits
A warm, welcoming family in the West Village is seeking a polished and collaborative full-time Housekeeper to join their team. The household includes two adults and two young children and runs on a foundation of kindness, respect, and well-established systems. The environment is casual in feel but professionally managed, and the family values team players who take pride in their work while remaining approachable and flexible. The home spans five floors, so candidates should be comfortable navigating stairs throughout the day and bring the energy and stamina needed to support a busy, well-run household.
The ideal candidate will be a New York City local with prior experience working in high-level private homes and/or hospitality. They’re looking for someone with a positive, can-do attitude who takes initiative, follows established systems, and works well independently. A background in wardrobe care and laundry is strongly preferred, and the ability to travel occasionally to the family’s home in Manhattan Beach is a plus (though not required). Kindness, humility, and the ability to take direction and feedback well are essential to succeeding in this role.
Schedule:
- Five day workweek with two consecutive days off (note, candidates will need to work weekend days and can rotate with the other housekeeper)
- Two shifts: 8am-4pm; 12pm-8pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily housekeeping for a multi-level private home (5 floors)
- Full-charge laundry and wardrobe care, including ironing and steaming
- Closet and wardrobe organization and maintenance
- General tidying, deep cleaning, and upkeep of household spaces
- Following established household systems and protocols
- Weekend coverage as needed (on a rotating basis)
- Working collaboratively with other staff, including the house manager, nannies, the chef and other housekeepers
- Occasional support for travel packing/unpacking and home readiness
- Flexibility to travel to LA is preferred (but not required)
Qualifications:
- Must be based in New York City (local candidates only)
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience working in private, staffed homes
- Strong laundry skills including handwashing, stain treatment, steaming, and ironing
- Experience managing wardrobes and fine clothing preferred
- Ability to walk up and down stairs frequently throughout the day
- Self-motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Polished and professional with a kind, respectful demeanor
- Must be able to pass background and reference checks
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US
- Flexibility to travel to LA is preferred
