Live in Couple Job in Gloucestershire
A lovely family require an experienced Couple to run their home which they use as a weekend residence, in Gloucestershire, as their Couple of 8 years are leaving.
The family have 2 boys aged 18 & 21 and two small dogs. The property is approximately 10,000sq with tennis court, swimming pool, gym and guest houses set in 50 acres.
Also employed is an Estate Manager and Gardeners.
The couple will be responsible for the day-to-day management and security of the property.
Main Duties:
Cooking:
- An excellent cook required to a dinner party standard
- Menu planning, shopping online etc
- When family are in residence preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner.
- Except for dinner parties, for most part the house is informal and eat family style – e.g. Ottolenghi / Jamie Oliver / Nigella.
Housekeeping:
- Hands on cleaning, laundry and ironing
- Making beds (bed-linen is sent out)
- Flower arranging
- Arranging Christmas decorations
- Laying tables, clearing tables, afternoon tea trays, laying fires, taking and opening deliveries, closing shutters and securing the house at night
- Front of house duties (serve drinks and canapes and to help serve at dinner parties)
General maintenance:
- Within the property and general outbuildings
- Filling wood baskets
- Checking oil and gas levels
- Liaising with contractor's for yearly services of boilers, burglar alarms, chimneys, Aga etc,
- Overseeing house for any problems, signs of leaks etc.
- Setting out garden furniture in the summer and opening up Pool house (some power washing required)
- Co-ordination with outside contractors and the Estate Manager for building projects.
Occasional Duties:
Driving: local errands, station runs and to and from local dinner parties.
Dog Sitting: The family have two dachshund dogs and occasional dog sitting is required.
Summer Let: The family are not usually in residence over July and August and have a new property that will be rented out as a summer let. It is anticipated that the couple would be responsible for managing the property over this period (no cooking required).
At certain times the job would involve the couple working together in the house and working as a team. You will occasionally be asked to serve drinks and canapes and to help serve at dinner parties. At larger events assisting the external caterer's and help ensure the smooth running of the event.
Experience / Skills:
- Fluent English speakers
- Confident cook with strong repertoire
- Previous Housekeeping / Cleaning experience of a large, busy house
- Driving Licence (At least one person)
- Computer literate and email user
- Handy at basic D.I.Y

Accommodation: A large, south facing separate 3 bedroom cottage approximately 2,000 sq with a small south facing garden. Well behaved pets accepted. Bills / Council tax paid.
Working days & Hours:
- Monday - 9am – 2pm
- Tuesday – Day off
- Wednesday – Day off
- Thursday 9am – 2pm
- Friday 9am – 7pm
- Saturday 8am – 7pm ( could be split shift if entertaining )
- Sunday 8am – 7pm
When family is not in residence, the days can switch to Monday – Friday. The family is usually in residence every other Christmas and overtime will be paid for working on bank holidays.
Start: September but possibly earlier for the right Couple
Salary: £80,000 - £85,000 gross per annum, negotiable for the right couple
