Midwest-based private, UHNW family seeks a live-out Executive Housekeeper with a service heart and a strong professional work ethic to ensure that the residence is maintained to the highest aesthetic standard, while maintaining owner privacy. This position will oversee the work and prioritization of supporting housekeepers to ensure all team tasks are completed in a timely fashion. This position generally consists of a Monday through Friday schedule with periodic rotational weekend hours and availability upon request.  This position also consists of working on some holidays and traveling with the Family as needed to other properties.  Flexibility is key, as well as a do-whatever-it-takes mentality.

We’re looking for a positive and motivated self-starter who can manage effectively, has excellent listening skills, and can communicate with skill and professionalism with staff, Family and Principals.  A calm and even temperament and warm personality are essential. Must be organized and detail oriented with the ability to adapt and pivot with an evolving workload.  Must excel at managing others, executing tasks, and following through.  We’re also looking for an outstanding problem solver who is resourceful, quick-thinking and can prioritize tasks.  The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in a similar position managing 3+ household employees.  The Executive Housekeeper will report to the House Manager. This position includes the following job responsibilities:

  • Assist the House Manager and staff with the daily running of the Estate and the providing of seamless service consistent with the high standards of the Family.
  • Maintain an efficient, harmonious, and productive working environment through a hands-on management style, excellent communication and working with other staff as a productive team.
  • Represent the Principals and Family in a poised, professional, and discreet manner.
  • Perform museum-quality cleaning with proficiency in special surfaces (wood, glass, leather, furniture, antiques, priceless art, marble, silver, brass, etc.).
  • Meticulous organization of personal products, household items, and belongings throughout the house as per instructions.
  • Coordinate housekeeping schedule in order to minimize impact to the Principals.
  • Provide service and support culinary and event staff for special events, formal dining, holidays, and family gatherings.
  • Anticipate and recognize the needs of the house and owners with little guidance and oversight.
  • Conduct frequent reviews of the physical surroundings to ensure quality issues are identified and reported to the appropriate department and are rectified.
  • Establish and support processes to maintain the home to the highest aesthetic and performance standards; work with team members to create and update documentation, checklists, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with team members to procure appropriate inventory and maintains proper levels of required supplies.
  • Make recommendations to improve and upgrade the level of detail, service, and operational sophistication.
  • Contribute to budget preparation and cost management.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams, meetings, and activities to promote operational excellence.
  • Closet and wardrobe management.
  • Organizing closets and storage spaces as necessary.
  • Inventorying all crystal, silver, fine art, antiques, and other items as requested.
  • If necessary, travel with the Family to other properties to assist in their needs; travel ahead to set things up or travel with the Family to handle everything on-site.
  • Running errands as needed including grocery shopping, gift shopping, etc.
  • Other related tasks, duties, special projects, and work assignments as directed by Principals or House Manager.

Required Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of fine fabrics, materials, and furnishings for proper care and preventative maintenance.
  • Management of fine arts and antiques.
  • House Manuals and SOPs.
  • Household inventory management and stock rotation.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; both verbal and written.
  • Maintains a positive attitude.
  • Flexibility and willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed, flexibility in traveling between properties as requested.
  • Demonstrated delegation, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to highest levels of service and excellence.
  • Knowledge of silver service, tablescapes and floristry skills a plus.

Other Requirements:

  • Excellent references from current and previous employers.
  • Minimum 5+ years related experience working in a similar role for a private family, preferably in the residence of a UHNWF/I.
  • Adept at using technology.
  • Valid Driver’s License; Clean driving record.
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Legally able to work within the United States; US Passport.
  • Background check required.
