Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized, hands-on, and experienced Project Engineer | Project Manager to oversee the daily operations and long-term development of a private residential estate, including the management of ongoing construction and capital improvement projects. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Bermuda and requires fluency in English. Speaking Portuguese would be an asset.
This person is a jack of all trades. They will complete building projects and maintain the property beginning immediately. For the next twelve months, this person will begin immediate work and labor on the property. When construction drawings are ready, this person will take on additional responsibilities as a project manager on site from groundbreaking through project completion.
Key Responsibilities
Immediate Needs
- Reading and designing basic project plans. Executing and completing small projects as a self starter with hands on knowledge, requiring little support.
- Building structures on site to include a temporary outdoor storage facility.
- Fixing walls, updating basic infrastructure, laying tile and concrete blocks.
- Completing maintenance and property upkeep needs at the direction of the Principals.
Daily Project Management
- Oversee all aspects of daily estate operations, including maintenance, repairs, landscaping, and seasonal upkeep.
- Ensure optimal performance of all MEP systems; maintain service logs and vendor schedules.
- Source, vet, and manage service providers and contractors.
- Approve service contracts and vendor invoices.
- Monitor and maintain estate security systems and protocols.
- Implement emergency response plans for power outages, severe weather, or other critical events.
- Perform minor maintenance and repair tasks personally when needed (e.g., light plumbing, fixture replacement).
- Provide hands-on support for estate events or urgent matters, including physical assistance with setup or repairs.
Project Management & Construction Oversight
- Supervise and coordinate all on-site construction and renovation activities, including new auxiliary buildings.
- Monitor jobsite safety and ensure contractor compliance with all construction documents and owner guidelines.
- Perform daily site walkthroughs and document progress through detailed logs and weekly reports.
- Coordinate work among multiple contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and local authorities.
- Review architectural and technical documentation; provide support for interpretation and execution. Training in reading and creating architectural documents is required.
- Track milestones and project timelines to ensure adherence to schedule and budget.
- Inspect on-site materials and workmanship to ensure quality and compliance with U.S. or Canadian standards.
- Identify and document defects or discrepancies and issue corrective recommendations.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe jobsite environment.
- Serve as a liaison between ownership, contractors, architects, and consultants to ensure clear communication and collaboration.
- Manage on-site personnel and resolve interpersonal or professional conflicts.
- Contribute to project planning, scheduling, and budgeting alongside the ownership team.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience in high-end residential construction and/or estate management.
- Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction methodology and industry best practices.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting technical construction drawings and specifications. Skilled in carpentry, masonry, electrical and plumbing
- Excellent communication and leadership skills; able to interface with owners, vendors, contractors, and authorities.
- Highly organized with excellent time management and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
- Fluent in English; Portuguese proficiency is helpful.
- Must be physically capable and willing to perform hands-on tasks as required.
- Willingness to relocate to Bermuda or the British Virgin Islands for a 2–3 year period.
