Our esteemed client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sous Chef to support their household’s culinary operations for an initial two-week period, with the possibility of extension. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with a strong background in fine dining or private household kitchens, demonstrating exceptional talent in food preparation, kitchen organization, and supporting the Head Chef or principal in delivering outstanding culinary experiences. This role calls for a creative, adaptable, and self-motivated individual who takes pride in presenting beautifully prepared, nutritious meals. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and preparation of daily meals, ensuring high quality and presentation
  • Follow dietary requirements and preferences as instructed by the principal
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment at all times
  • Source and manage fresh, high-quality ingredients; assist with grocery shopping as needed
  • Support meal service, including plating and serving as required
  • Assist with cleanup, dishwashing, and kitchen reset after meals
  • Collaborate with other household staff to ensure seamless operation of household functions
  • Occasionally prepare snacks, beverages, or special meals on request
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of food safety practices and ensure proper storage and handling
  • Be prepared to adapt menus and services according to seasonal ingredients or household needs

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a chef or sous chef in a private household or fine dining setting
  • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety, and nutrition
  • Ability to create balanced, flavorful meals with an eye for elegant presentation
  • Experience accommodating various dietary needs, including allergies, preferences, or restrictions
  • Flexible and adaptable with a calm, professional demeanor under pressure
  • Must be trustworthy, discreet, and capable of maintaining a high level of confidentiality
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to follow specific instructions from the principal
