A private family is currently seeking a full-time Ranch Operations Manager for their expansive ranch located in beautiful Montana. This estate features breathtaking landscapes that include rugged mountains, lush valleys, and serene woodlands. Visitors can experience a rich variety of native wildlife. The ranch maintains a 400 head cow/calf operation and a limited number of horses. The property is equipped with top-tier hospitality amenities and well-designed meeting and conference spaces, offering outstanding leisure and recreational activities.

The ideal candidate will ensure peace of mind, safety, and consistency for the owners by overseeing all daily operations at this prestigious property, including livestock management, land maintenance, fleet and building maintenance, guest services programs, financial management, and staff supervision. The Ranch Operations Manager will work directly with the Principals and Chief Executive to prioritize the protection, preservation, and enhancement of the property.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In this position, the job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Executive family and guest services.
  • Close coordination with the family’s staff and contractors.
  • Direct daily activities including construction/maintenance work, visitors, deliveries, vendors and inspectors.
  • Provide insights and recommendations regarding infrastructure improvements and construction.
  • Assist the executive team with capital projects.
  • Work closely with department managers for Agriculture, Groundskeeping, Maintenance, and Hospitality for oversight of daily operations.
  • Develop and maintain the Operational Manual.
  • Direct and assist HR management, recruiting and retention of staff.
  • Create and maintain staff schedules.
  • Hire, train, supervise and dismiss all seasonal employees.
  • Coordinate with managers and staff for each department.
  • Assist and oversee employee meals and housing.
  • Assist the personal staff with planning, managing, and executing the family’s special events, meetings, guests and personal gatherings.
  • Coordinate with Lodge Butler in service involving private residence, the Lodge, conference rooms, guest cabins and staff housing.
  • Work with the owners and affiliated entities to create and execute an annual business plan and budget.
  • Responsible for financial oversight of the property. This includes, but is not limited to, monthly activity and budget reports as well as annual inventory reports.
  • Process and code bills, invoices, and expense reports.
  • Handle the purchase and sale of equipment per the owner’s guidelines.
  • Ensure proper security and safety procedures are being upheld.
  • Regularly communicate with owners regarding operations, challenges, and upcoming needs.
  • Perform any other duties as reasonably requested.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in ranch or hospitality management field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 7-10 years of ranch or hospitality experience, preferably on a large-scale property.
  • Prior experience working with Legacy properties and for a UHNW private family is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated financial and business acumen.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Employees must adhere to Company and property policies and procedures, which are included in the Company’s Employee Handbook.
  • The candidate is subject to undergo pre-employment drug test, (after the offer is given but before applicant has commenced work). Random drug tests may be given throughout the year.

  • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings, background and reference checks.
  • Valid driver’s license and eligible to work in the U.S.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk and hear. The employee must frequently lift and/ move up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently be exposed to conditions typically experienced inside a home or office; adverse outdoor weather conditions including temperature extremes, snow, rain, wind, and dust.
