Overview:
A family office is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting and Bookkeeping Specialist to manage day-to-day financial operations. This role will involve paying bills, reconciling accounts, assisting in reviewing tax returns, and providing essential support for the financial management of the family’s investments and expenses. Proficiency in QuickBooks, strong negotiating skills, and a solid understanding of accounting principles, including debits, credits, and financial statements, is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and execute daily bookkeeping tasks, including bill payment and data entry.
- Perform monthly bank and credit card account reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
- Assist in reviewing and preparing tax-related documents, including supporting the review of tax returns.
- Generate, review, and analyze financial reports, ensuring they are accurate and timely.
- Handle vendor payments, payroll processing, and other accounts payable/receivable tasks as required.
- Negotiate terms with vendors and service providers to secure favorable agreements.
- Work with external tax accountants and financial advisors to ensure the family's financials are in order.
- Ensure confidentiality of financial information at all times.
- Maintain organized financial files and records for the family office.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in bookkeeping and accounting, preferably in a family office or private setting.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks or other accounting software.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, including debits, credits, and financial statements.
- Strong negotiating skills, particularly in vendor and contract management.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and data entry.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive financial matters.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with tax preparation and experience in assisting with tax returns.
