Title: Educational Nanny / Governess

Position Summary
The Nanny is a childcare and/or education specialist working in the family’s home, responsible for all tasks related to the care of the children. The Nanny will serve as a loving, nurturing, and trustworthy companion to the children and be part of a team that supports a fast-paced household with many ongoing projects.
The ideal candidate has experience working with neurodivergent children, a proven history of respectful caregiving, excellent communication skills, a team mentality, and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
Compensation
Hourly rate D.O.E. + standard benefits package (health insurance, paid vacation, sick days, holidays)
Responsibilities & Duties
- Create a stimulating, nurturing, and safe environment for the children
- Supervise children’s activities at all times, including both home and organized play
- Support the family during outings, events, and other social engagements
- Supervise and maintain rest, nap, and bedtime routines
- Assist with the bedtime routine (bathing, dressing, reading, and bedtime support)
- Monitor children during rest hours and respond as needed
- Support meal and snack preparation for the children following family guidelines
- Change diapers and assist with toddler potty training in alignment with RIE principles
- Dress children appropriately based on activities, weather, and location
- Model socially appropriate behavior and manners
- Administer medication as directed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of children's bedrooms and belongings
- Perform childcare-related housework and help maintain a clean, child-safe environment
- Follow CDC-recommended COVID-19 safety protocols
Requirements
- Completion of the RIE Foundations course (can be completed upon hire)
- Valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Clear and satisfactory background check
- Valid CPR (infant and adult) and First Aid certifications at time of hire
- Up-to-date vaccinations, including COVID-19 vaccine and booster (proof required prior to start date)
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to talk, hear, and communicate effectively with children and household staff
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds, including up and down multiple flights of stairs
- Must be physically able to care for young children
