Located in beautiful Greenwich, CT, this private estate with stables of 20 stalls is in need of an experienced live-in rider trainer and stable manager.

This is a live-in role and is best suited to someone prepared to make a long-term commitment. The ideal candidate is professional, reliable, and comfortable living in close proximity of the estate owners.

We are looking for someone with a genuine love for horses to see to the daily high-quality care of the family’s five horses, as well as the day to day running of the stables.

You will be part of the family from day one and as we grow bigger so you will you.

Working alongside the family’s experienced and knowledgeable current manager, the ideal candidate will be able to grow in the role and gradually take on more responsibility with a view to one day succeeding the current manager.

Maturity, knowledge, honesty, and a seriousness about being the best caretaker of quality horses is a must.

There are currently five horses, three of which are very active. The job holder will need to previously have worked with both active and quiet horses. You will be expected to ride every day, including with the two principals and their adult and teenage children.

You will cover for the current manager when he is on leave and so you will need to demonstrate you can work independently with little supervision. You must be a self-starter.

This is an all-encompassing role and you will be expected to be hands on with mucking out, feeding, grooming, cleaning the stables, clipping, blanketing, wrapping, trailering, and a good understanding of basic equine ailments and wellbeing of the horses is also required.

You will also oversee the maintenance of facilities and supplies and keep detailed records. Safety is a priority.

You must have good command of the English language, good communication skills, a positive attitude, be willing to work hard, and enjoy being part of the wider family team. You must already be legally able to work in the United States. References will be checked and will need to cover the previous five years of your work.
