Manhattan/Southampton House Manager

 

Private family seeks a long-term, self-motivated, and energetic full-time House Manager to complete the daily oversight of the family’s primary home in Southampton and home in Manhattan.  This position will require regular travel between both properties. The schedule consists of a 5-day work week with some flexibility to work weekends as needed.  This role serves as primary contact for the homes.  The ideal candidate should be detail oriented, have a proactive approach towards preventative maintenance, be hands-on and the have the ability to multi-task and use critical thinking. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Daily oversight of vendors and housekeepers
  • Create and maintain household logs, household manuals and preventative maintenance calendars
  • Maintaining household inventories and procuring supplies as needed
  • Coordinate home project work and vendor management (find, get bids, and on-site liaison with contractor, architect, maintenance vendors for home renovations, handyman for routine maintenance)
  • Organize and coordinate household activities (cleaning services, routine maintenance, deliveries)
  • Perform periodic chores including laundry, dishes, taking out trash, putting away groceries and tidying
  • Support, plan, and implement home organization
  • Assist with maintenance of property grounds and home exterior
  • Help with personal events, such as hosting dinners (invitations, arranging with caterers and other service providers as appropriate)
  • Supporting family communications (emailing on behalf to vendors and clients, calendar support)
  • Review household invoices and liaison with Family Office for bill pay

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years related experience working in a similar role for a private family
  • Prior experience overseeing construction projects and acting as the “Owner’s Rep”
  • Strong command of English language; communication skills both written and verbal
  • Must be flexible and accommodating to the Family’s schedule
  • Excellent verifiable references required from both current and previous employers
  • Thorough knowledge managing high-end properties, vehicle maintenance, storage and organization
  • Polished, poised, and professional in both mindset and manner; always use of utmost discretion and embody positivity
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Pro-active self-starter who is adaptable within the role, punctual, reliable, and courteous
  • Must be comfortable working in a household with dogs
  • Valid Driver’s License REQUIRED; must be a safe and confident driver
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Legally able to work in the United States
  • Dedication to responsibilities; team player, above and beyond attitude
  • Must be active, capable of lifting 25lbs. and able to move about the home with ease and agility
  • Must be willing to undergo an extensive background, MVR and drug screening as well as sign a non-disclosure
  • Be willing to self-quarantine on days off in the interim until the current pandemic is under control
  • Must be willing to submit to routine Covid-19 testing 
  • Customary vaccinations including DTaP, annual influenza (flu) and Covid-19 are required.
