Experienced Housekeeper Sought for Historic Bedford Home
A family with two young children in Bedford, NY seeks an experienced, detail-oriented Housekeeper for a long-term position in their large home.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm
About the Role: You'll care for a beautiful historic property with hardwood floors, antique furnishings, fine art, oriental carpets, and delicate surfaces. We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work and has experience maintaining formal homes to high standards.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Cleaning and maintenance of the home using a rotating zone schedule
- Weekly deep cleaning of assigned areas on a rotating basis
- Care of delicate surfaces including wood paneling, marble, crystal fixtures, and antique furniture
- Kitchen and bathroom cleaning and sanitization
- Bed making and weekly linen changes
- Laundry (washing, drying, folding, and organizing according to care instructions)
- Simple breakfast and lunch preparation for the family
- Managing household supplies inventory and placing orders as needed
- Light organizing of closets and storage areas
- Light vendor/delivery interaction and greeting guests
About You:
- 5+ years of professional housekeeping experience, preferably in estates or large formal homes
- Knowledge of proper care techniques for fine furnishings, delicate fabrics, and antique surfaces
- Comfortable working around children and pets (two friendly cats)
- Able to work independently once trained on household systems and preferences
- Physically capable of climbing stairs and lifting up to 25 lbs
- Reliable transportation
- English proficiency for clear communication
