Our client seeks a qualified and experienced Head Housekeeper to strengthen its exceptional and dedicated operations team. This position, based in Northeast Harbor, Maine, will report to the Property & Operations Manager. The property is the summer residence of a busy executive couple and their school age children. The position is full-time, year-round, salaried, with benefits and 401K plan offered. The Maine team are professionals dedicated to providing a clean, comfortable and safe environment for the family. Specific responsibilities

  • Daily hands-on housekeeping, including general and deep cleaning tasks
  • Care of clothing and linens, including steaming and pressing
  • Daily property walk-throughs: interiors and exterior
  • Train and oversee duties of domestic staff and contractors
  • Occasionally receive guest and show gracious hospitality
  • Occasionally serve and clean up for meals or events on the properties
  • Basic floral care duties
  • Pet care duties – dog walking, pet grooming, pet feeding (dogs and cats)
  • Assist with driving when needed
  • Occasionally assist with snow removal and exterior grounds tasks
  • Assist with any projects or requests given by the Property & Operations Manager
  • Assist with vehicle cleaning and care
  • Administrative duties including record keeping, purchasing, inventory, purchase summaries, proposals, check sheets
  • Comply with estate security protocols and tasks

Professional Qualifications

  • Associates degree or higher
  • 3+ years of experience as a housekeeper in a fine residence or luxury hotel
  • Certifications and or training in household service/hospitality
  • Broad knowledge of household items and their care
  • Proficient in the care of general laundry and delicate fabrics
  • Broad knowledge of relevant tools and equipment maintenance
  • Valid driver’s license and clean history
  • First aid and CPR certification
  • Business and technology capability including computers, smart phone, and Microsoft office
  • History of Independent and team project management
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and set priorities
  • Must pass background check and drug test

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Utmost confidentiality, judgment, and professional discretion
  • An aptitude and desire to learn the finer points of Private Service
  • Ability to be flexible in scheduling to meet the changing demands of the family
  • Must be comfortable around dogs – no pet allergies
  • Willingness to work holidays, weekends, and long hours as necessary
  • Proven organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Problem solving, hands-on, and “get it done” attitude
  • Resourceful - quickly learns the how and where to get things done in the local area

Physical Requirements and Position Scope

  • Team members must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and perform physical labor for several hours at a time to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
