About the Family
A young family is seeking a warm, capable Mother’s Helper / Nanny to support them over the next several months. The primary location will be near Birmingham, Michigan, with travel expected, including extended stays in Southern California. The family has an infant (currently 7 months old) and a highly involved mom who is very hands-on, but would love an extra set of capable hands. This role is less about taking over and more about being able to “read the room” and step in where needed. We encourage people of all ages, educational backgrounds to apply. We are NOT looking for a house manager but a true child care professional.

Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive, nurturing care for the baby, ensuring safety and well-being at all times.

  • Plan and engage in age-appropriate, screen-free activities that foster development (reading, play, creative learning, outdoor time, etc.).

  • Support daily routines such as feeding, naptime, and transitions.

  • Keep baby engaged during wake windows and support developmental milestones.

  • Light tidying and organization directly related to childcare (toys, nursery, child’s laundry, meal cleanup).

  • Household support when the baby is napping or in mom’s care, including:

    • Keeping the nursery and child’s bathroom tidy

    • Ensuring bottles are washed and prepped

    • Sweeping/vacuuming and light housekeeping

    • Running occasional errands (e.g., dry cleaning drop-off, Amazon returns)

  • Communicate regularly with parents about routines and needs.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience caring for infants/toddlers in a private home setting.

  • Knowledge of child development and passion for supporting growth and learning.

  • CPR and First Aid certification required

  • Energetic, engaging, flexible, and patient.

  • Comfortable working as part of a household team.

  • Must support a screen-free environment, including limited cell phone use while on duty.

  • Driver’s license required.

  • Comfortable with large dogs.

Schedule

  • Typically 5–6 hours per day, with some flexibility.

  • Candidates should be comfortable with occasional changes in schedule.

  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings (staying after the baby goes to sleep to support date nights or gatherings).

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay and benefits.

  • A supportive, respectful household environment.

  • The opportunity to play a key role in a young child’s early years.
